Mediastream is Expanding into Douglas!

We announced today (November 22, 2011) that Mediastream has acquired the cable system in Douglas, GA, which passes more than 15,000 homes about 35 miles northwest of Waycross. Together, the Waycross-Douglas systems represent an impressive cable operation serving more than 28,000 homes and 14,000 customers. 

“As we have done in Waycross for many years, we will bring Mediastream’s commitment to delivering affordable and reliable choices in Internet, TV and Phone – all backed up by great local service – to the families and businesses of Douglas,” said Mediastream General Manager Steve Sippel, who will now oversee the Douglas operation as well as Waycross. “We know that we serve our neighbors and look forward to extending to Douglas our focus on local service, employee commitment and community involvement.

”Mediastream recently expanded its dispatch center in Waycross to support both communities, adding four new employees. With the Douglas acquisition and the hiring of the employees there, Mediastream now has 45 dedicated employees serving Waycross and Douglas. 

The Douglas system will continue to operate under the previous operator’s name until February 15, 2012, at which date the migration of the billing system and service delivery platforms will be completed. During this three-month transition period, Douglas customers will continue to use the same Charter customer service and sales phone number and website that they have in the past: 1-888-GETCHARTER (1-888-438-2427), www.charter.com

“We have a lot of transitioning to do with Charter over the next 90 days,” Sippel explained. “We are working very hard to make the changeover as seamless as possible for our Douglas customers. Services will be enhanced gradually, not overnight, and we’ll keep customers updated as the transition progresses.

”The integration of Douglas into the operation will not affect the services offered in Waycross.

On February 15, the Douglas system will begin operating under the Mediastream name. 

Q: What kinds of new things will Mediastream customers see?
Steve: Mediastream will still be Mediastream, delivering great products with excellent customer service to the families and businesses of Waycross and surrounding Ware and Brantley counties. We will continue to look for opportunities to improve what we can do for you. Of course, if anyone has ideas they’d like to share, I would like to hear them. Here are the important questions … 

Q: What’s your favorite BBQ style?
Steve: I will be looking for the best pulled pork in town. I am also very happy to know that the National BBQ Festival will be here in November. 

Q: Your favorite TV show?
Steve: My wife and I enjoy the Food Network because it has shows about the food that is popular in different areas across the country. When I happen to have the TV to myself, you’ll find me watching any Outdoors show.

DIY and Fine Living will no longer be available on basic cable. Spike will move from basic channel 75 to basic channel 57, and Comedy Central will move from channel 76 to channel 52.
